08/05/2007: gf laser sponsors the Brunel Racing Team
gf laser have given Brunel Racing substantial sponsorship for the laser cutting of their chassis tubing.
Brunel Racing consists of final year students studying Motorsport and Mechanical Engineering, working from purpose built premises on the University campus, in West London.
The team is currently constructing the 2007 competition entrant, BR-8, which will be competing at both the UK and German Formula Student events this summer.
As part of the sponsorship deal the chassis team from Brunel worked with the gf laser team to cut over 50 pieces of chassis tubing on gf laser’s 5 axis laser cutting machine. Each piece of tube was individually developed in Trumpf’s dedicated 3D laser software, Tops 800, by a laser programmer – This ensured that the angle and accuracy of the cut met the exacting requirements of the Brunel team.
Simon Tregillus, Commercial Director of gf laser, commented that “We are pleased to be involved with Brunel Racing and it was a pleasure to work with the team – We wish them every success in this years competition”.
